Please bring in 15-20 pictures, scrapbook paper and stickers for us to use to decorate their boards. I will be purchasing the boards. These are due by April 12. Class Pictures: If you have pictures from our classroom going-ons from the past 2 years, please email them to the address below. I am working on the slideshow for our 6th grade celebration.

November/December Update! This Weebly update will serve as the updates for the remainder of the semester. Any new information will be provided via email through our parent coordinator or myself. Novel Studies: We are reading Call it Courage by Armstrong Sperry. Students have blue packets with vocabulary, reading comprehension and literary elements . Students are working on an ocean study: waves, currents and climate. They will complete a STEM project building a canoe and finish the novel with a literary response essay. Scope: Scope is studying the myth of Gilgamesh. Students will be writing an argumentative paper claiming Gilgamesh a hero or not. Additionally, they are working diligently to prepare for a hopeful winter play. Parents of Scope students will be provided an invitation. Storyworks: Storyworks is working on persuasive writing. Thanksgiving Week activities: Students will be presenting their persuasive Turkey Pardon speeches, enjoying caramel apples (details will come in an email), writing gratitude letters and participating in a community acknowledgement activity. 6th grade Homework: I am making review packets for 6th grade to review specific concepts. This packet will be given to students the week after Thanksgiving. Calendar November 14: Ruby Bridges Walk November 20th - 24th: NO HOMEWORK, you are welcome :) November 20th: Acknowledgement artwork part 1, Gratitude Letter November 21st: PJ Day (optional) Acknowledgement artwork part 2, Turkey Pardon presentations, Apple treat, barter day November 22-24: Thanksgiving Break December 14: Cookie Decorating Day (information to come out in separate email) December 15: PJ Day and Movie Day - I will send home a permission slip December 18 - January 1: Winter Break January 2: School resumes ------------- This week students were given information about the Great Lives Fair. The packet will be sent home on Friday, October 20th with the new homework folders. The first due date is October 27th. Students need to pick a person who made a great impact on our world. I prefer students to study historical figures rather than modern day people. Ms. Madi's last day with us will be October 27th. We wish her well on her new adventure! Reminders!
